Review: Forever Love

Forever Love Forever Love by Kimberly Cummons
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this book at the Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group for free in exchange for a fair and honest review
3.5 stars

I enjoyed this book.. I really did but there were some things that I found irritating about it.

1-Cassie accepted her immortality way too easily. Um, if someone kidnapped me and injected me with who know what, I would be freaking the hell out. I wouldn't just accept something just because some hot guy says it. I would be thinking "okay what does this kidnapper want now". Just because a guy says he won't hurt you doesn't mean it's true. Cassie was just like 'oh okay'.

2-After her kidnapping you would think that she would I don't know need a breather before jumping some guy she just met bones. Or am I just crazy? Think about it though. She is all over Keegan. She was just kidnapped, found out her live has 100% changed and she can live forever. So what does Cassie do? She makes out with a guy she literally just met and she has nicknamed dangerous. Riiiiiight. Seems legit.

3-There were misspellings. Everyone who has ever read any of my reviews, knows that I can't spell anything right and my grammar is appalling. It's no secret. I freely admit it. So if I notice errors in a book... I think they have to be kind of really bad.

Okay there are also a lot of things that I liked about the book.

There were a lot of characters.. like a lot. I usually don't enjoy that because it's hard to keep them all separate. Especially when it's the first book. But Kimberly Cummons didn't confuse me with her many characters. I was able to keep them straight and not confuse them. There were a few times I had to re-read some things but for the most part the characters were strong enough that I didn't confuse them.

I also LOVED the Aeterni storyline as a whole. Being immortal is something that is interesting enough but I loved that she took it a step farther and made a whole new 'race' of men and the fact that Cassie is the first female immortal. It was different and I think there are a lot of places that Cummons can go with it.

The ending made it seem like there would be more books.. I hope there are more books. I will defiantly be reading them.

Review: The Demon You Know

The Demon You Know The Demon You Know by Christine Warren
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was disappointed with this book. I liked Rule in the last book and I was excited for him to have his own book. But this one didn't work for me.

Abby was terrible. She was whiney and rude and just plain dumb. She was having a pretty bad day. I get it. I would freak the hell out if I found out I had a fiend inside me too. But my god she went bat shit crazy. She was yelling and insulting the only freaking people who could save her. Telling Rule how unholy he is. And poor Tessa.. If I was Tessa I would have left the damn thing inside her. I mean I know she couldn't in order to save the worlds but still Abby was a complete bitch. To everyone. I hated her. It's been a while since I have hated a character as much as I hate Abby. Also she ran. I can't stand that. She is being protected by a pack of werewolves, a demon, and a witch and she runs to her brother.. WTF. just stupid. Invite your brother to where you are but don't run away. I know she thought everyone was lying to her but would you really take the chance that they weren't? hell no. Because if it's true and you die the whole effing world dies with you, you stupid cow. UGH!!! and then later on, she gets bored, yes bored and decides there's no harm going to lunch with a friend. Even though everyone told her to stay put (inside a freaking monstrosity of a house with everything at your disposal) Her logic though.. she's going with a werewolf so it has to be safe. Dumb bitch gets her self captured. I also want to point out that it wasn't like she was there for months.. or weeks.. it was days... I can't remember exactly how many but I want to say 2..

Rule.. well I dunno. I don't think I have any feelings about him at all.. I hate that he won't age and Abby will. I hate immortal couples that don't have a way around that. Even if I hated Abby.

Now that I am writing the review and I have had a couple days to sit on the book, I have no idea why it even got 2 stars.. Maybe just because I love the author and I have loved this series. So I will leave it at 2 stars but really.. it's a 1 star book for me.

Review: Fire Rising

Fire Rising Fire Rising by Donna Grant
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I hate it when a female character is in danger and someone tells her one little thing about the male and the female runs away. It happens so often in books and I just can't stand it. This is the second book this week that I have read where this happens. EVERYTHING could have been avoided if Sammie didn't run from the freaking mountain. OMG I just remembered that she ran TWICE! She came to her sister just to rest but then found all the dragon guys and they were going to help her and she ran! To be fair the first time she didn't know those guys were dragons.. but still. She was at a huge castle filled with hulking men and a sister who promised they could help her out.

So I hated Sammie she was TSTL... Tristan was a good character though. He was extremely stubborn and fought the attraction to Sammie but he still protected her. Even when she was being a twit. So props to him because if I had gotten someone to a safe place and they ran, I would be like okay see ya, Enjoy your captivity and eventual death you stupid, stupid girl. But of course Tristan didn't do that he got all his dragon peeps and his warrior peeps to get her back. Sigh. The trouble woman cause.

I didn't feel the connection with Sammie and Tristan. I know that she was his Dragon Mate or whatever and there was the whole insta lust going on. But most of the book was with them apart and the one time they actually spent a night together, their interactions were glossed over. Not the sex part but the part where they actually you know talked and got to know each other. I know I have said this a million times but insta-love doesn't bother me if it was written right... this time it wasn't written right. Because I hated it. Tristan denied Sammie up until the end and Sammie kept running away.

Really one of the only things I did love about the book was Tristan and Ian. They had a WAY better connection than Tristan and Sammie. But I hated how dejected Ian was when Tristan couldn't remember him. Think about how awful that would be... to go 400 or however many years thinking your brother was gone, only to get him back and he has no clue who you are. Absolutely devastating and I have always loved Ian. SO I was so excited when Tristan slowly.. very slowly starts to get glimpses of himself as a warrior and him with Ian. I also loved when they fought together. Because it was obvious they had done it a million times before because they were perfectly in sync with each other. Is there anything greater than brotherly love? well yeah... but it defiantly wasn't the romantic love in this book. The brotherly love was so much better.

As with the last book I also loved having the warriors involved. I love it when an author has multiple series and they all connect together. My little heart gets excited when a character from a past book shows up. "I know him! I know her!" Yes I actually say this out loud every time. Donna Grant weaves the characters together so well. I think that would be difficult. Maybe it's not. I dunno but it seems like it would be hard.

You defiantly need to read the warrior books first. I know I said that in the last books review but it's true. 1-the characters all show up and it's so much better to know who they are. 2- spoilers and lots of them. Especially in this one since Tristan is so tied with the warriors.

Review: Darkness

Darkness Darkness by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Oh Darkness.. You were an asshole. I am so upset by this. You had some issues.. I understand but did you have to be a dick the whole book? No you didn't. You could have gotten over your shit faster. You defiantly should not have taken about 90% of the book to get it together. You sent her away twice. Not cool. You made her feel like an idiot the whole book. Again not cool. You freaked out on her when it was your fault you forgot to put on a condom. Really not cool. You broke my little heart Darkness. I wanted to love you, I tried to be sympathatic to your issues, but you just took too damn long to admit that you loved her. Hell you took too long to even admit that you cared for her even a little bit. Oh Darkness.

In the last 10% of the book you were perfect. Why couldn't you be that man sooner? You made sure her friend could be there, you got her a house, you got her a job and you even had a meal with your poor brother who only wanted to love you.

Okay now that the dramatics are gone, the story was good. It would have been fantastical if Lauren Dohner would have made Darkness man up a little sooner.. okay a lot sooner. But the plot itself i liked. Kat came in and was kind of a bad ass. She lied to just about everyone.. but she was a good liar... I mean.. hell I don't even know but I liked Kat. I think she was a little over emotional for a girl who claimed she wanted no relationship but other than that, she was cool. She kicked ass and lets face it she put up with Darkness and he was a dick to her. It all worked out in the end but I gotta tell ya, there is no way in hell I would have stayed as long as she did.

Review: Midnight's Promise

Midnight's Promise Midnight's Promise by Donna Grant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn't going to write a review for this. Mainly because there wasn't anything that was truly amazing or anything that I absolutely hated. I always find it hard to write reviews for books that were just meh. Also I have been on a Dark Warrior marathon and I just was kind of over this series. But that ending. It made me extremely happy.

Donna Grant went back through every couple and told us what they were up to or what they were going to be up to. I have never loved her more. This is a huge deal to me. I hate how some series just end and then thats it. It happens so freaking often. Even in single novels it happens. It infuriates me. I get all emotionally involved and the guy gets the girl but then nothing. I want to know more! Donna Grant gave that to me. So obviously I have to tell everyone how awesome she it. Even though this book was just so-so for me.

I was happy to see Malcolm happy. He was always entirely too hard on himself and I like him, always have. Eva.. well I didn't like her. She made aLOT of stupid choices. She was good for Malcolm though so I got over my dislike for her. Because Malcolm needed a woman who brought him back to life and well Eva did that. So she's a little dumb, so what? She makes Malcolm happy so I'm happy.

Review: Midnight's Temptation

Midnight's Temptation Midnight's Temptation by Donna Grant
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

There will be spoilers and this is going to be a rant because this book pissed me the F off. But serious spoilers. Like MAJOR ones. So don't read farther unless you've read the book.

Okay so the first part of the book wasn't terrible... It wasn't good but it defiantly wasn't terrible. I hated that Aisley had to keep who she really was from Phelan. But she HAD to. He would have killed her if she would have told him. So I get it. Plus she did run away for 2 months AND she tried to get away after the first night. So I mean she tried. I was okay with her and everything else at this point. Whatever there is some lying but I figured she would tell Phelan and then sure he would be pissed. Because who the hell wouldn't be? But I thought he would at least listen to her explain!! But NOPE the fuckface didn't listen to a single word she said. He completely ignored her and walked away. This all happens after he plans to take her to his cabin and spend lots and lots of naked time together because he cares so much about her. He just walks away. I HATE HIM. This is something I can't get over because..

Duh Jason gets her and tortures her within an inch of her life over and over again. And did give away information? NOPE! Because she's a fucking good person and legitimately loves the asshole. And even later on in the battle, Jason has her convinced that he brought her daughter back to life, she still lies to him and tries to figure out a way to save them both. Meanwhile the douche is watching Aisley battle with her emotions over he daughter. It's written all over her face that she is in some serious pain and he doesn't fucking care. Because a woman who is in league with the devil can't feel that kind of pain so it must be fake.

OH and the freaking best part. Jason throws some magic fire or something towards the douche and Aisley jumps in front of it. Clearly she's evil. It's so obvious by everything that she has done up to this point that she is just pure freaking evil. So she just keeps adding to her evil-ness by gasp learning the spell from the ancients that will trap those weird ghost/mist things while she is laying on the ground DYING . Only then does the douche realize that he loves her and doesn't want her to die. But too fucking bad because she does die.

Course she comes back from the dead because she has crazy phoenix powers or some shit. And she is totally fine with the way the douche treated her. Because who would be mad? Certainly not me. NOOOO. I would defiantly want to marry the douche 3 days after he wanted to kill me. Obviously she is 100% sane and most defiantly made the right decision. Freaking crazy bitch.

So this is the story of how the harebrained chick fell in love with the douche.

Review: Moon

Moon Moon by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

OK I kinda loved this book. I didn't think that I would.. The whole shrink who slept with her patient thing just didn't sit right with me. It made me feel icky. But that's not really what happened...

I love Moon. He has always been one of my favorite males. He is funny and sweet and he helps out a lot of the other New Species. I like that. I also liked Joy. Do I think she went about everything the right way? Hell no. She kind of screwed the pooch with the whole leaving and not saying goodbye thing. I 100% understand why she left. I also understand why she could not have said she was leaving to Moon directly. But helloooooo tell someone else to explain the reasons to him or write a damn letter. He wouldn't have been able to leave to find her and he wouldn't have to go through that rejection. He could have invited her back, not as his shrink. Or IDK just something different could have been done.

This book was a little different than the rest from the series because Moon had no idea who he was or who his friends were. I liked that whole aspect of the story. I liked seeing him slowly piece everything together... but only with Joy. I mean he hated her for leaving him so that sucked but it was still cool to see his mind work. And it was just different all around. No one stole his female to make an example of her and there really wasn't a whole lot of drama. I mean obviously there was some, but it just didn't feel the same to me. I may be crazy and I may be making it all up but but I don't care. It. was. different. And I liked it.

Also I want to see Harley fall in love. He was awesome. I just looked and there isn't a Harley book?? For real? Not acceptable.

Review: Kissing Steel

Kissing Steel Kissing Steel by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

So I thought I would give this series another try. Laurann Dohner's New Species series is fantastic and I love her writing in those books. So I thought that maybe the first book was just shitty. Plus it was a short book, only took me a couple hours to read. It was a couple hours wasted. I still hate this series. I hate the women. I actually did like Steel ( who is the male hero in this book). He was really sweet and it was cute how he didn't understand anything that wasn't logical. He is the reason this book got 2 stars instead of 1 and he is the ONLY reason. I hated everything else about the book. Renas character was weak... but then she would get really pushy. She basically molested Steel on 2 different occasions while he was unconscious or was working so he shut down his body. She was like a little girl trying to stand up for herself. She would open her mouth and talk but then when one of the Cyborgs said something back she would freeze and back down. It was annoying.

Anyways.. I didn't mean to rant. I am done with this series.

Review: Kinked

Kinked Kinked by Thea Harrison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series is alway hit or miss with me. I either love the book or I hate it.. and this one I loved. I was a little worried at first, I was afraid that they were going to fight most of the book and that just would have been annoying. But they actually stop that really early on. They agree to have "hate sex" and pretty much after they realize that they are attracted to each other they start getting along. I liked the way the relationship evolved. Quinn actually turned out to be extremely sweet and even more surprisingly so did Aryal. I, like most other readers, was not a huge fan of Aryal. She was always bitchy but this book you learn a lot about her and I now kind of love her. And I really love Quinn. They fit extremely well together. They both needed to be in control and they were able to make compromises so that they both had it. They were rough with each other. Again I liked that because it fit both the characters. They were able to fight and then make up. There was a lot of BDSM type sex talk between them but really that was it.. they talked about it more than they actually did it. The love scenes were rougher.. but that's just because they both liked control. I have read a few reviews that complained about the BDSM.. It just didn't seem that way to me. But I thought Id throw that in here in case it's something that bothers people.

The actual story was kind of slow.. There was a lot of focus on the couple and them building a relationship. They were alone for most of the book. But I loved the couple so it wasn't terrible.. I just wanted it to get somewhere. And once it got to the end, I thought it went too fast. But overall I enjoyed the book.

Review: Obsidian

Obsidian Obsidian by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

*spoilers*

I am having a hard time rating this one. Seriously right when I finished the book I was like F that 2 stars. But from the time it took me to walk from my bedroom to my office I was like well it was really 4 stars. And then from the time I got my laptop up and GR up to write a review I was like ill do 3 stars, it's in the middle.

The reason I was going to give it 2 stars was because of the ending. I hated it. I understand why they had to send her away.. I mean I get it.. but at the same time I think it could have been handled better? Maybe. I don't know. All I know is I did not like it one bit. She gets back and he's a completely different person than the male she fell in love with. He's playing soccer for christ sake and he talks to every male that they walk past? He's obviously more sane.. But I kind of liked him better when he was all snarly. Does that make me weird? Why yes it does. Do I care? Nope. But the problem is that the ending just didn't seem finished. She gets back, he's sane and plays with his friends, they have sex, sign mate papers, The End. Um. No. I need to seem them together after she gets back for longer than half a chapter. A bad ending ruins books for me. I can't get past it. Even if the rest of the book was decent.

Besides the ending, I wasn't a huge fan of Allison. The whole kidnapping thing was so rash for a doctor. He wasn't in immediate danger of dying. So it just doesn't seem logical that a doctor(a very good, sane, shy doctor from what everyone keeps saying about her) ups and kidnaps a guy. It just doesn't fit!

Then there is Obsidian.. he's obviously crazy. But I kind of love that about him. The whole book, except the last chapter, he is possessive and honestly kind of mean. Allison digs that. I would dig that too. He just needed to be shown some love.

It was a good book. I just wish that there would have been an epilogue or another chapter of after she gets back to Obsidian. I would have liked to see more of the reunion. There really wasn't a reunion. It was just them having sex and signing papers. Literally. There was nothing else to it. I needed more... crap now I'm back on 2 stars just talking about the ending. GRRRR.

Review: Lady Midnight

Lady Midnight Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Question: Why do all of Cassandra Clare's books have forbidden romances? Will couldn't have Tessa because of his curse. Jem couldn't stay with Tessa because of his sickness. Jace couldn't have Clary because they thought they were siblings. And now Julian can't have Emma because he is her parabatai. Not to mention all the side character romances. Like the hint of Mark and Cristina. Of course that can't happen because Mark was dating/in love with a fae and then Cristina was kissing her ex. I freaking hate that shit. Why? Seriously, why freaking do it. Just let the effing couple be together. Adding the forbidden love aspect does NOT make it more interesting. It makes me not want to read any more of the books. Because you know that there are 3 and that they won't get together until the last one. So I will hate the next book for sure. Just let the story be about fighting the demons with a little side bit of HAPPY romance.

This book was good. I loved how Cassandra Clare tied in the characters from her other books. Though I will admit that I teared up a little bit when Emma pointed out that Jem looked 26 while Tessa still looked 19. I can't explain why Will, Jem, and Tessa's story hit me so hard every time it's mentioned but it does. I loved that Jem and Tessa are involved in this book. Don't get me wrong. I just think that in the next couple books as he starts to age more that Im going to loose my mind.

It was also nice to see Clary, Jace, and Magnus. And to learn about what was going on in their lives. I didn't get attached to those characters but I still enjoyed learning more about them.

Honestly the only thing I didn't like about the book was the romance. The story was fantastic, the action fantastic, the whole plot was just fantastic. I loved all the characters. But the romance! I would rather there be none than have 2 people in love but can't do anything about it. And what Emma did at the end! UGH. I mean I get it.. But I HATE that it was in the book at all. I hate being frustrated by a book. I want to be happy when I read. I defiantly don't want to have anxiety. I tend to focus on the romances in books. So when they make me want to scream I really don't want to read anymore.

Review: Rock Chick Renegade

Rock Chick Renegade Rock Chick Renegade by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I have some issues with this book.. so I'm probably going to rant.. just a bit.

It's hard for me to say exactly what bothered me so much about the book.  I wasn't a huge fan of Jules.  It's not that I hated her.. because I didn't. The way she was with "her kids" was incredible.  I loved that part of her. I just hated the whole vigilante thing. Going after freaking drug dealers with smoke bombs and slashing tires, REALLY?  And then there's Vance.  I was a little disappointed by him.  I loved him in the last book.. not so much in this one.  I put myself in Jules's shoes and it terrified me.  I like alpha males. I really do but Vance was overkill.  He was like a really hot stalker. The cameras ended up helping her out in the end.. so whatever to that.  But breaking into her house instead of knocking?.. just why? And the whole "Shut up Jules." thing.  Every time she tried to get a point across, but she was having trouble.. Vance just told her to shut up. Hell no! I would effing punch him in the face for that alone. If I had Thor right next to me and he told me shut up while I was talking, I would punch him in the face. (It would hurt him so bad he would cry like a little girl ;) I most defiantly would NOT let him kiss me. Oh but Jules just went with it. Another reason I had problems with her. All she did was tell him to not tell her to shut up... and then Vance responded by telling her to shut up. Another point taken away from Vance. GRRR.  I was just expecting more from him. Be an alpha.  Throw her over your shoulder and carry her to bed, I am totally on board with that.  But you have to let her speak her mind!!! Even if it is a bunch of nonsense.  (example: ROXIE AND HANK! aka perfection.  Roxie was a freaking loon.  She rambled soooo much about nothing. But did Hank tell her to shut up? NOPE! He just let her ramble and THEN he kissed her. I love Hank. Hank is the perfect alpha male.)

Also I hated the fact that Jules could have ZERO privacy.  Even the things that she told one of the girls got past around to every single person. The men gossip more than the women. I would want to be able to tell my man something and not worry about him gabbing to his co-workers.  It was just unattractive. Sometimes its funny but it wasn't funny in this one. I also think that for someone who wanted privacy and didn't want to tell the rock girls anything.. that she gave in way to easily.  I mean she called all of them to tell them that Vance wanted her to keep her toothbrush at his house.. I just wanted to yell "YOU ARE 27 YEARS OLD!!!!!!" I don't give a shit that she was a virgin and never had a bf.  She acted like a child a lot in the story.  I wish I had written some things that she said but I didn't and i've listened to another book since then.  But I just remember physically cringing at a lot of it.

Alight.  So the ending was really good and I DO like Vance and Jules together. (even though I think she had more of a connection with Luke but again whatever.) Like from an outside perspective.  I just made the mistake of putting myself in there.  I also really liked the story as a whole. Like I said I really hated the vigilante plot but I liked everything that was going on with Jules and the children.  And I REALLY loved everything that happened with Darius.  I can't wait to get to know him better.  So there was some great things that came out of this book.  I was just too annoyed to focus on them.

I also think I was just disappointed because I am so head over heels in love with Roxie and Hank.  I don't think there will be another couple that will beat them in my eyes.  They are perfect and I loved that book. So that may be a lot of the problem too.  Who the hell knows. It really could just be that I had to go to work at 3:30am, so I was just mad at the world.

Bring on Lucas Stark <3 Ava better be one hell of a woman.

Review: Rock Chick Redemption

Rock Chick Redemption Rock Chick Redemption by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE ROXIE. I need her in my life for real. I went into this book thinking I wouldn't like it because I really, really hated the last one.

Roxie is trying to get away from a crazy ex-boyfriend so she goes to Denver to see her Uncle Tex. Yes that Tex. The crazy guy that I just want to cuddle up with. Yeah so she goes to Fortnums and all the Rock Chicks are there and all the Guys... I hate the Hot Bunch nickname that they get. Anyways she walks in there and of course everyone makes a huge scene because Tex has family. But thats where she meets Hank aka Whiskey.

Roxie tries to stay away from Hank but he just doesn't listen to no. I know some people were annoyed by that but really thats what those Denver boys do. So it just didn't bother me. Hank and the gang help Roxie with her ex-boyfriend and the drug dealers that are after him. And the Rock Chicks take her in immediately. "I'm going to kill that motherfucker!" I'm pretty sure most of the gang, including her father, said this at one point about her ex. Why did I love this? I have no idea but I did. I love that everyone in these books bans together to help each other out.

It's really hard not to love Roxie.. I mean at least for me. I think a lot of it is her attitude toward life in general. She was kidnapped and beaten and tied to a freaking sink.. but she didn't break down.. at least not really, she was just determined. I like that she didn't go into hysterics. God knows I would have. I also like that she is a complete nut. She is a talker for sure. Sometimes it's hard to get her to shut up and its not like boring girl talk either. Its her funny ramblings. Its endearing and hilarious and Hank thinks it's cute. So yay him. I think if Roxie personality would have been different I would feel differently about this book. The Rock Chicks can bring on the funny but what made the book so amazing was that Roxie was kind of crazy.. but in a Tex kind of way. So it was a good crazy.

And then there is Roxie's parents. OMG they were absolutely hilarious. I can see how Roxie didn't think so but it's also obvious that being nutty just runs in the family. They came in and took over everything. I also think it was the time that I knew I was in love with Hank as well. Because he didn't mind her family! It amused him. Which I guess I should have known because of how he feels about Roxie and she is pretty much exactly her mother. So I guess it should have been obvious but whatever. Hank is a good guy and Roxie needed someone as domineering as him. It works because he is a good guy and wants to keep her safe.

This whole book was just funny. I laughed pretty much the whole time. I love the Rock Chick gang. I love the new additions. I love Roxie and Hank. I just LOVED this book.

Review: Grave Memory

Grave Memory Grave Memory by Kalayna Price
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love and hate this book. I love it up until the last 10 mins and then I want to scream and rage at Kalayna Price for getting my hopes up and crushing them. Especially since I have ordered the next book but I am still waiting on it.. so I am not happy.

I am team Death. All the freaking way. It's not that I don't like Falin.. because I do. I just think he has done too many things that I wouldn't be able to get over. I understand that he is being forced to do those things by the Winter Queen. Still I don't have to like it.. or get over it. I now remember why I don't like love triangles. I always get waaay too into the characters. I need an author to tell me who to root for. This one didn't bother me at first because it was kinda obvious that Falin was the clear choice so it just wasn't much of a triangle. But now, NOW after this stupid book I will be so upset if she doesn't end up with Death. GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Okay the story... Nope screw it I'm too upset by the last part of this book. You gave me a dream Price and then you took it away. I will rate this book minus the last couple minutes.. because otherwise it would be negative stars.

Review: Last Dragon Standing

Last Dragon Standing Last Dragon Standing by G.A. Aiken
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.. I wasn't a fan of Ragnar in the last book and I was dreading reading about Keita. Ragnar just seemed kind of boring. And Keita, dear lord, she came off as this bitchy, snobby dragon whore. Who did not care what so ever about other people.

Well... she still was those things but not at the same time.. It's hard to explain unless you read the book. I hated her for the first 40% of this book, but then you get a glimpse at the 'real' Keita and she is basically the same as Gwenvael. Everything is a show for her and most of the time she has reasons for doing the seemingly selfish things that she does. I mean sometimes she was just being selfish but who doesn't do that. So my opinion of her slowly changed through out the book.. When she was with her family is when my opinion completely changed and I kinda love her now. She does a lot for her family... it's all disguised, like she wants everyone to hate her. But she still fixes a lot of things within her family.. things like getting Dagmar a silver dress that brings out her eyes instead of the ugly gray she always wears. Keita insults Dagmar the whole time she's giving her the dress.. but still. It's sweet in a total bitchy way.

Ragnar was still boring to me.. Except in the bedroom.. or on a dirt floor. ;) But other than his sexual skills, he just didn't do anything for me. He was kind of an asshole for the first half of the book. But it all worked out for him because an asshole is kinda exactly what Keita needed for a mate.. or well not really a mate but an exclusive lover. She needed someone who wouldn't do everything she said. So I like them together. It works.

For the first half of the book it was just Keita and Ragnar and a few other lightening dragons traveling... There's a bunch of drama, sure but it just seemed to drag on... It took me 2 days to read the first half of the book. After that though it got really, really good. There was a lot going on behind the scenes, a lot of scheming and a lot of half truths. And as always the dragons were hilarious and so very, very dramatic.

Review: Marked in Flesh

Marked in Flesh Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There will be spoilers. Sorry but I just can't help it!

I love everything about this book. It's hard for me to write a review for this series.. Just because there are so many POVs.

Let's talk about Meg. She is one of the greatest female characters ever. She can not fight and she is very soft spoken. I usually HATE those kinds of characters but Meg is so strong in other ways that it totally overpowers any dislike towards her. In this book she is trying to make a "prophecy deck" using tarot cards and other different kinds of cards. She is doing this to help her and other "sweet bloods" (I like that term waaay better than cassandra sangue) stop cutting and it actually helps out a lot with her. She had difficulty interpreting what the cards mean when she picks them but with help she figures them out. Idk I just think she is completely awesome. She is so innocent.. but then she isn't because of everything that has been done to her and everything she has seen.

In this book we have the Human's First (crap I can't remember if thats the actual name now...?) but a group of Human radicals that want to wipe out all the terra indigene. They put a plan in motion that ends up killing a lot of wolves all over the country. BAD, BAD humans! The terra indigene won't stand for that and neither will The Elders. Those guys are scary for sure. They come in and kill millions of humans... They also like Meg.. It's impossible not to! She freaking howls like a wolf. So I think we will be seeing a lot more of The Elders around the Lakeside courtyard in the next book.

One of the things I love most about this book.. and all the others from the series.. is the way the terra indigene interact with the humans and their protectiveness of Meg. The thing I love the most? Simon and Meg. Duh. Simon is so ignorant of human customs when it comes to relationships that is humorous to watch him try to navigate it an I love that Meg doesn't want him to be more human. She needs both the wolf and the man. Let's all take a minute and remember the last few minutes of the book. Sigh. Are they not the most perfect "couple"?

Obviously there is a theme here. I love Meg and anyone who loves Meg, I also love. It is incredible how Anne Bishop wrote a character that even I as the reader feel protective over. Because I do. Isn't that crazy? Ive never felt that way towards a character but I want to reach out and keep her safe. You are awesome Anne.

Review: Grave Witch

Grave Witch Grave Witch by Kalayna Price
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book.... It was honestly a lot like Charley Davidsons books.. Except Alex isn't quirky like Charley was. So it wasn't funny like Charleys but I enjoyed it just as much.

I love Alex. She is a death witch.. which basically means she can call up shades from dead bodies that have all the persons memories and can talk. Creepy right? Yeah.. The awesome thing about Alex is that she isn't arrogant about her ability.. It's almost like she doesn't want it at all. Even though she uses it for good, like making sure the right man got put behind bars for killing a 5 year old.

I also like her love interests. A lot of people hate love triangles, but for me it just depends on how it's done. Falin was around a lot more than Death was but the little glimpses we get with Death make my heart ache for him. So right now it's hard for me to say who I am rooting for because there just isn't anything to go on with Death. And Falin, while I like him, he seems to be hiding a whole lot... Like being the Winter Queen's lover.  So I guess we will see how that progresses in the next book.

Review: Fury's Kiss

Fury's Kiss Fury's Kiss by Karen Chance
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There was soooo much going on in this book.. I really don't feel like I can write a review with out giving anything away. So I am just going to talk about randomness and then be done. You're welcome.

I have loved Dory in the first two books but in this one she kind of annoyed me, just a little bit. I mean I still love her but she is 500 years old.. 500.. And I feel like she acts like a child sometimes. I get her daddy issues and I understand that for 500 years everyone has looked at her with contempt but idk I just think after so long that you wouldn't have to point it out every time your dad upsets you. I mean EVERY time Mircea did anything that wasn't perfect she would point out that it has been like that for 500 years.. That is completely unnecessary. OH! and when anyone would try to talk she freaking interrupted them. Like the whole effing story! So a story that should have taken maybe eh 2 pages turns into 7 because everyone has to tell her to be patient and listen. Just annoying.

The opposite happened with Mircea.. I use to HATE him. I have read all the Cassie books and I just can't freaking stand him, like at all. But in this book I have grown kinda fond to him. In my opinion he is a fantastic father. Everything he has ever done was only to help Dory. And lets be honest, she is a complete bitch to him and instead of getting upset (well really Mircea never gets upset about anything but still) he remains calm and I just think that he deals with everything really well. A lot better than I would ever be able to. So I won't say that I love him and I still don't want him to end up with Cassie but I respect him. I understand why he did a lot of the things that he did in the other series.

There were times that I got completely lost.. There would be a lot of action going on and then she was waking up in a bed.. Nothing about her passing out or anything. For awhile I thought that all the bad things that were happening was a dream brought on by the fairy wine. It does explain everything in the end but it was just frustrating not knowing what the hell was going on.

I can't believe I have gone this long with out talking about Louis-Cesare! He is perfect. Seriously. I love him. I also kind of love Ray.. yeahhhhh he was kinda awesome in this book. He was funny and he kicked a lot of zombie butt. I think he is a great side character.

What I love about these books is that they line up with the other series really well. Karen Chance did a fantastic job at tying the stories together. Right now both series are around the same place in the timeline.. Well I think Dory's goes a little farther. I am excited to see what happens next in Cassie's story and see if Dory will be there. I would think she would have to be because of what happens at the end. I just think its going to be interesting.

Review: Barbarian's Prize

Barbarian's Prize Barbarian's Prize by Ruby Dixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I freaking love the blue aliens. Salukh is no exception. He was so sweet and caring. Tiffany I didn't really like but that's alright. I read this series because it's funny... this book really wasn't all that funny. So I was a little disappointed with it. But I completely understand why Tiffany has her fears. She is 100% justified.. Salukh handled her fears perfectly. He didn't push her to do more than she was ready for, he let her control the sexual part of the relationship.. of course that didn't stop him from stalking her.. for her safety of course.

It's a cute story... Never thought I'd say that about big blue aliens with horns and hard plates in their skin.. But to me, it was just not as fantastic as the rest of the books.

I can't get enough of the blue guys.... I'm pretty sure I'm going to go back and re-read these because Josie's book doesn't come out for another month. I am beyond excited for that book! I like Josie, she reminds me of Liz and her cootie likes someone she hates... it's a recipe for disaster and I wouldn't have my books any other way.

Review: Moon Sworn by Keri Arthur

Moon Sworn Moon Sworn by Keri Arthur
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mild spoilers.. maybe? Probably.

hm. It's over. Not quite sure how I feel about that.. Except that I am happy that it's over. I was basically forcing myself to go on in the series. It was a lot of the same story in each book. The only difference was who she was sleeping with at the time and her only steady lover(Quinn) I absolutely hated. So I just had a really hard time getting emotionally attached to the characters. But by time I formulated that opinion I was already 4 or 5 books in and I just had to finish it.

I will say that this book was pretty good. There was a lot of unresolved problems that finally came to an end. Riley was dealing with Kade and Kye's deaths, so that added some depth to her, I think. She has always been kind of unemotional and I hated that. It sucks that it only happened in the last book. She also had Blake, her old packs leader, trying to get his revenge. I like what happened with the pack.

Then there is Quinn... ugh... My opinion of him changed in the last book. From absolute loathing to ehhh I don't really care and this book brought him up just a little bit higher.. Just a little. I hold grudges against characters and I still can't get over the whole mind manipulation thing. Sorry buddy.

At the end of this book though, I do think him and Riley are perfect together. I love Rhoan and Liander. They are by far the best people in the book. I think the only reason I read on was because of them. The ending was pretty much perfect. I won't lie. It's been pretty obvious from my reviews of this series that it hasn't been my favorite but the ending made up for it. It's got to be hard to end a 9 book series and Keri Arthur did a fantastic job. All the loose ends were tied and they all lived happily as a pack. Adorable.

Drive Me Wild by Christine Warren

Drive Me Wild by Christine Warren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of my favorites from this series.. it may be my absolute favorite. It's hard for me to even put into words because all I want to do is ramble on about everything that was awesome in here.

Let's start with Rafe and Tess. I have loved Rafe since the very beginning and I have been waiting patiently (not really) for his book to come along. There has also been a little bit a mystery to him and I like that. Tess is a witch and she's is absolutely perfect for Rafe. Their first encounter, she tries to follow him but keeps tripping and making noises, so Rafe pins her to a wall so they can talk. She is this tiny little lady and she has a huge Jaguar shifter pinning her to a wall and she doesn't let that intimidate her what so ever. She fights back.. not physically but with her wit and sarcasm. I may have just a little bit of a girl crush on Tess. Another thing I loved about her was that even though her grandfather wanted her to gather info on Rafe and the Others.. she didn't. And she didn't try to hide that from Rafe. The others council also asks Rafe to gather info on the witches and he refuses to put Tess in that position.. again I love that.

Really there is a whole bunch of drama with the witches, her grandfather, and then lets not forget the whole curse thing. But the greatest part of the book was the relationship itself. Rafe was sexy as hell.. by far the best love scenes from the whole series. They fall in love pretty fast.. Of course they don't recognize it until the end but it's still there in everything that they do.

I am reluctant to pick up the next book just because this one was everything I would want in a paranormal book and Im afraid I'll be let down by the next. This series has been hit or miss for me and none of them have been like OMG.. except this one.

The Vampire's Mail Order Bride by Kristen Painter

The Vampire's Mail Order Bride by Kristen Painter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I actually really enjoyed this book. I bought it on audible because it was on sale for 4 something so I thought why not. I wasn't expecting much from it.

To be honest I was kind of frustrated by the book for the first ehh 15-20% because the two main characters were hiding so much from each other. I really don't like books where there is a huge misunderstanding. I will usually put a book down if thats how the plot goes. What saved this one was the inner monologues and the fact that Delaney was going to tell Hugh who she really was the second day they knew each other. I am so freaking glad the whole book wasn't like that. The truth comes out pretty early on. So it wasn't so bad. After Delaney knows he's a vampire and after Hugh knows that she wasn't his 'real' bride, the book got soo good!

The chemistry with the characters was fantastic.. there was the whole insta love thing but it didn't bother me in this book. She's got the mob after her and all Hugh wants to do is keep her safe. So I totally get the whole insta love thing. Who wouldn't fall in love with a sexy vamp who wants her safe? I sure as hell would fall in love with him. And Delaney is also super lovable. She isn't anything he ever thought he would want. She's spunky and stands up for herself, and for Hugh.

All in all it was a great book. It was very sweet. I will defiantly be reading more from this series.

Reap the Wind by Karen Chance

Reap the Wind Reap the Wind by Karen Chance
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I just finished this book like right now and I probably should wait to write a review because I am so upset with the ending. But most of my reviews are rants anyways.

My whole problem with this series is I freaking love Pritkin and Cassie loves Mircea. I focus way too hard on that, I know it but I just can't help it. Mircea has been avoiding her, we find out why in this book but the reason is so lame. He could have told her why a lot sooner. I hate the way he just assumes she will do whatever he wants. But she still wants him. I just don't get it.. but whatever. With he cliffhanger at the end I feel like we are going to find out a lot more about him. Which I guess makes sense... the last 2 books have been all about saving Pritkin and we learn so much about it. So I guess I can deal with a Mircea book.. Doesn't mean I won't bitch about.

I kinda loved Pritkin's dad. I know crazy but I loved the interactions between him and Cassie. I also loved 24 year old Pritkin. He was so freaking sweet.. different from the guy we know and love but not at the same time. I kinda like the surly Pritkin better but it was still nice to see him before his dad and the other demons change his life.

The book was good. I enjoyed reading it but it almost felt like a filler. I have WAY more questions than I did before I started and none of my old ones were answered.

The Darkest Kiss by Keri Arthur

The Darkest Kiss The Darkest Kiss by Keri Arthur
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Quinn is back.. I hate Quinn. I don't understand why on earth she would ever let him back in her life. He manipulated her freaking mind! Honestly this book would be so much better if they just did away with the romance completely.
1. because I seriously can not stand Quinn and because he has been in the books since the first one, I have a feeling she will end up with him forevers. 2. Because Riley says she wants the whole white picket fence thing but she won't settle down. 3. The crime mysteries are enough to keep me happy with out the romance. And thats saying something since I usually only read romances. But it is just so freaking terrible in this book that it I don't even want it around. It just makes me think so much less of Riley.

In the last book we found out that Quinn has been using their mind connection to plant subliminal messages like; Don't go to the bars and stay away from Kellan. And then he uses it to make her go home or he tries to but she shifts and it didn't work as well. Of course he also hates that during the moon craze she has to sleep around (which I also think is shitty but I have given up on that rant a few books back.) She is a werewolf and that is just who she is. So in a way Riley thinks that he is trying to change a part of her. (again I don't agree.. he just wants you to sleep with only him. but whatevs.) My point is that Riley thinks all these things but as soon as he brushes a finger across her lips, she just doesn't care anymore? Bullshit. Have some self respect.

Anyways... rant over..ish. I actually really liked the rest of the book. The killer was interesting and I suppose I can't give a book a low rating just because I hate the romance can I?... YUP I can. Because it seriously makes me want to stop reading the series. Just know that it could have been 4 stars. But I hate Quinn and now I also kinda dislike Riley.
