Dragons Realm by Tessa Dawn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I got this book from a GoodReads Giveaway! :)
I wanted to like this book more than I did. There was a lot of things that I hated but then there's a lot of things that I loved.
I absolutely loved the idea behind the story. I loved that there were witches that could give the dragons sons. I loved that in doing this they helped the realm stay safe. I hated that they were treated as slaves. You would think that someone who could give you what you want would be treated better.
I also wasn't a huge fan of Mina.. She has been trained to be a servant for 6 years and as soon as she gets to the dragons keep it's like all of that is gone. I understand and would want a heroine to fight but I also believe there is a time and a place to do such things. She fought everything. She talked back and disobeyed everything the dragons asked of her. She even goes out of her way to break the dragon king's laws. And she got caught every time and then she would beg for her life. I hate begging. You have to be smart! She was kind of an idiot and didn't play her role like she should have.
I freaking HATED the ending. It didn't really feel like a HEA at all. I can't and won't say what happens because it's full of spoilers but I just did not like it. I feel completely unfulfilled after finishing the book.
Overall I think the book as missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it. It was basically a lot of Mina disobeying and then the dragons telling her that they will kill her and then her begging for her life. I have read Tessa Dawn books before and I know that her writing is a little bit different and a little bit darker than what I usually read but I usually enjoy her books more.
