Review: The Unyielding

The Unyielding The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Shelly Laurenston. I don't think I can ever say that enough. Her writing is beyond perfection and no I am not one of her street team or whatever the equivalent team of bloggers she has but I just fucking love her. There isn't a single book I have read of hers or G.A Aiken that I haven't absolutely loved.

This book was fantastic. I love Erin. I have loved her since the first book but I loved that she got her own book. And Steig.. hahah I loved him to. I basically just love everyone okay. But seriously these characters are all so fantastic!

This book was kind of intense and the world depends all on Erin... which has everyone kind of well terrified. And Steig tags along and helps her out.

This book was hilarious and sweet in a dick-ish sort of way. I don't think there is another person in the universe that could have put up with Erin the way the Steig did.

Review: The Sinner

The Sinner The Sinner by Margaret Mallory
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This is the second book I have read from this author and it's another low rating. I don't think she will work for me at all. The men are all assholes. They are highlanders and they are suppose to be cave man ish but Alex was a douche. Which is exactly what I said about Ian in the last book.
Alex proposes and in his proposal he tells Glynis that he won't embarrass her. He will be deseret when he sleeps with other women... I understand that that's just how things were and that at least he was being honest about it.. but gah come on man.

The start of this book was actually okay. I enjoyed the story until they actually slept together. Alex was upfront saying he would never want anything more than sex. Glynis agrees she wants nothing else either but of course she changes her mind and she gets all whiney about it. Some things happen that I won't say because it gives things away but they end up getting married. And that's where it REALLY goes downhill for me. Glynis jumps to conclusions and she is a freaking crying ninny. Alex actually turns out to be somewhat okay after they get married. He promised not to sleep around and he doesn't. There was just so many stupid arguments between the couple. I was so annoyed. I almost stopped reading the book at 80% because it was unbearable.

I don't think I will read the next one.. I think I am done with this series and this author.

Review: Ravished by a Highlander

Ravished by a Highlander Ravished by a Highlander by Paula Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great highlander book.. I feel like I need to read her other series first. I think it's about Rob's parents. Sigh I need a reading order that combines everything. I tried to figure it out but I was at work and I was attempting to work... haha

Anyways the book was good... It was good but kind of predictable and pretty much like a lot of other highlander books. Rob was adorable. I think he is one of my favorite highlanders because he didn't try to hide his affections.

idk im lazy today. So thats it.

Review: Seduction of a Highland Lass

Seduction of a Highland Lass Seduction of a Highland Lass by Maya Banks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I didn't think I'd like this book. I read a few reviews before I started it.. and I shouldn't have done that. I went into it with a negative attitude and it took me days to actually start.

I loved Keeley! I loved her more than I loved Mairin from the first book. And I defiantly loved Alaric more than Ewan. Did I think it was kind of shitty that they decided to have a relationship when Alaric was pretty much engaged? Sure but the thing is Keeley went to his room knowing that there was 0% chance of it going beyond that night. I think the relationship between the characters grew beautifully. I just really enjoyed the couple. Alaric had a few jerky moments and I think that Keeley was a stronger character by far but I still loved them together.

I also fell completely in love with Caelen. I am almost afraid to read his book and be disappointed. He was absolutely amazing in this book.

Review: Etched in Bone

Etched in Bone Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*****Spoilers.. obvious ones but they are in here*****

I am heartbroken. I had no idea that this was the last book of Meg and Simon's story. So I went into this book all "tra la la la" and I finished it and I was like "Anne girl. You gave me a small little kiss. The next book better have some serious passion" And then I got on here to rate the book and shelf the next one and BAM! I find out that, that was the ending for their story.. and then I got kind of rage-y.

Now I have calmed down a little. Because eh what can you do? But I am still really sad over how their story ended. I have given Meg and Simon 5 books.. 5 books I read and they kiss once in the last paragraph of this book. Yes it's clear Meg has some issues but come on! Did it have to take 5 whole freaking books? And I hate hate how they became "official". Simon asking Meg if they are mates. That's just disappointing.

But again whatever. The books have all been fantastic and I haven't been able to put any of them down. I loved everything about the story and about the courtyard and the howling not wolf. I am just sad that it's over.

Review: The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever

The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I hated this book. This is the 5th book by Julia Quinn that I've read and I just don't think I like her writing. Well I did like the Duke and I. But the others.. not so much.

My problem with this book was 100% Miranda. She has been in love with Turner since she was 10.. for 9 years.. and in those 9 years Turner hasn't looked at her or spoken to her and he married someone else. I do not understand how you can be in love with someone who literally doesn't notice you. He said some kind things to her when she was 10. BFD. Doesn't mean you devote your life to him. It reeks of desperation and I was so embarrassed for her. Reading this made me physically cringe and want to hide my kindle in the closet.

Turner comes off as an asshole.. but is he really? He is 9 years older than his sister and her best friend. Is he really an asshole for not paying attention to her? And even after his wife dies and he turns cold.. is he really at fault? I don't think so. Should he have kissed her that first night? No. But the dude just buried a women he hated and spent all day listening to people talk about how wonderful she was. It's logical that he was emotional.. and drunk. I think that Miranda should have not gone anywhere near him. But she loves him oh so much and can't turn away. Gag me with a spoon.

The only part of this book that was marginally good was the first couple months of their marriage. They were playful and fun but then Miranda gets all weepy about him not saying the words "I love you" Turner pretty much worships the ground she walks on but she is in a fit because he won't voice the words. She had a husband that was devoted to only her (which at that time wasn't normal) and he was sweet and fun and sexy and kind. But nooooo everything is terrible because he can't say that he loves her. I'll take actions over words any day.

What really sucks is I loved Olivia.. I'll probably have to read the next book. I just hope she doesn't turn out to be a little pansy like her friend Miranda.

Review: Firestorm

Firestorm Firestorm by Donna Grant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this book! Dimitri never stood out to me... I honestly don't even remember him at all before this book. It's been a long while since I've read about the Dragon Kings but still. I kind of love him. He hated humans and never wanted to mate but as soon as he met Faith he changed his mind. Yes it's cliche but what I loved about this book was that he didn't fight it the whole damn book. A lot of these books have the couple fighting each other until the end and that's annoying. Faith and Dimitri get together pretty much right away and I am totally okay with that. Actually I prefer that. I liked seeing them work together and I like that they didn't hide their feelings and just accepted that they were into each other. Why fight it? It's a time of war. Take what happiness you can.

Now the storyline.. you know besides the romance.. I am not sure how to talk about it with out giving it away. So I'll just say that things take an interesting twist. And things are getting interesting with Con.

As always Donna Grant's writing is fabulous. This story has been going on forever and it's still just as interesting as it was with the first Highlander book. I love that the warriors and druids get mentioned. I just love Donna Grant and this whole world.

Review: Just Like Heaven

Just Like Heaven Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I wasn't going to write a review for this book because well I kind of hated it. Maybe not hate but it was so freaking boring. I almost stopped reading it so many times.

A lot of the problem I think was the narrator. I got the audiobook and she was just terrible. Other than that, nothing really happened in the book. The only part of it I liked was the last 5%. Marcus was adorably awkward and I loved him.. but the story was boring. I think if Honoria were more exciting, maybe it would have been better? I don't know.

I was going to rate this 1 star until the ending. Almost every historical romance I read had cheesy endings. Hell most romances I read have cheesy endings. But I think this one ended perfectly. It was a beautiful ending.
