Review: The Matchmaker's Playbook

This book was freaking hilarious. I LOVED that it was told from Ian's POV. It really is completely different reading a book in a males mind. Plus he said the craziest things.

Like when Gabi got him sick:
"I'm going to bed to sleep it off and hopefully not die. If I wake up a zombie, take at least a few cool pictures before you decapitate me."

Blake also ended up being really funny after she opened up to Ian. Like when she went to help him when he was sick:

"Lex said you were making the final transition into a werewolf and not to freak out if you lashed out and bit me."

I love funny books. I love funny characters and this book is full of funny characters. All of them are seriously hilarious. Gabi, Lex, Ian and eventually Blake is funny. I feel like I have said funny 12325435 times but I can't get over it. When I first started the book I was a little worried because Ian came off as kind of an asshat. But I soon got over that when I couldn't stop laughing. I also didn't fully get what his job was. When I read the blurb, I really didn't know what to think but what he does isn't all that bad. So again, I got over it. He fell for Blake pretty hard and almost right away felt the connection. I think I might have hated the book if he didn't like her until after she started dressing better.

Gabi and Lex seemed to have the whole hate but want to fuck you thing going on. They constantly described ways to kill and hurt each other but when Gabi was sick, where was Lex? Right by her side... granted he was bitching and threw medicine at her instead of handing it to her. So I can not wait for their book. I think Im going to enjoy it so much more.. just because I won't have to wait for Gabi to come into herself. She's already a firecracker.... And I want to see how Blake and Ian are doing. :)

Review: Gone with the Wolf

I actually got the boxset for the Seattle Wolf pack from Netgalley.

This book is good.. I mean there is nothing wrong with it. The writing is good, the characters are good, the story/plot is good. It's just that is pretty much the same as every other shifter book out there. Which is totally fine. I get in moods for shifter books and I can usually pick a random one and it works for me. That's pretty much what this is..

Girl meets male shifter, instant attraction, they touch, he realizes that she's his life mate, someone in the pack gets pissed and tries to kill/harm the girl. That's how a standard shifter books goes and that's exactly how this one goes and I defiantly enjoyed reading it. Don't get me wrong. I just want to point out to people who might not be into that.

Emelia is spunky, loud, and curses like a sailor. So obviously I love her. I love that she doesn't just accept everything that is told to her. She finds out for herself. Drake I also like. He is hard and sweet at the same time. He doesn't use Emelia to gain the Alpha title. He gives her options. So yay him.

It was a cute, short read. It was a good shifter book and I would defiantly recommend it to other people.

Review: Until the Sun Falls from the Sky

Well I won't lie and say that I loved this book... Because I really didn't. But I also didn't hate it.

I think what bothered me the most was Leah's complete helplessness. She didn't want to go to the selection, she didn't want to sing the contract with Lucien, she didn't want to feed him because she wasn't convinced it wouldn't hurt, she didn't want to go the The Feast, she wanted to be able to talk back but Lucien blocked her from speaking, like a lot. I have a thing with the whole mind control stuff. It bothers be. I like to look at a situation and always see a way out but with the mind control you have no way out. It's terrifying.

The book got enjoyable towards the end.. I'd day about 60-70% into it. When they finally, FINALLY get over all the mind games and Leah stops being a drone. After that it was sweet. Lucien was very affectionate and he actually let Leah speak for the most part.

I will probably get around to reading the next book but it won't be for awhile.

Review: Under Locke

I was surprised by this book. I am not a huge fan of motorcycle club books but this one was fantastic.

I thought I wasn't going to like Iris. At first she talked about crying.. like a lot and I was afraid that everything was going to make her cry but it didn't. Sure she talked about how she wanted to or how she wanted to throw up but she was incredible strong. I liked her a lot actually. She would randomly shout out sex jokes and everything embarrassed her. She was sweet and caring and I totally didn't see her in the MC worlds but it worked for her.

Then there is Dex.. I love him. He was hard and soft. He never let anyone pick on Iris.. he was a jerk to her a couple times but hell you can't have a man like that and not expect a little bit of jerkiness. I loved his protectiveness. I also freaking loved that he went slow with her. She was obviously inexperienced and he NEVER pushed her for anything. He took everything super slow and I just thought that was the sweetest thing ever. He was always focused on Iris. He didn't sleep around and he did everything to help her with everything. I just freaking loved him.

There wasn't the usually stuff you find in a MC book. Dex was kinda on the outside of the club. He ran his own tattoo place. He got into a lot of trouble a couple years ago and now he has cleaned up his act.. with in reason ;)

Review: Paper Princess

Really? How in the effing hell is everyone talking about how amazing this book it?? Ugh. I HATE it.

Warning: This is going to be a rant. I should absolutely wait until tomorrow to write this review so I have a chance to cool down but whatever.

Ella was just pathetic. Reed was a douche to her the whole time and she still kept wanting him. Ladies, when a man calls you a whore, calls you trash, says all that and more to his brothers behind your back, sneers at you every time he sees you, makes you walk 2 miles home in the dark, laughs when anyone does anything mean to you, tell you a guy is good when really he knows that he is scum and is actually going to drug you and sleeps with other women, well he's just not that into you.

I am so pissed off by this book. I hate that women are told that if a boy picks on you it's because he secretly likes you. HELL NO. If a man picks (and I mean picks very loosely. Because Reed was a total ass) on you it's because he hates you, you stupid freaking cow. How did Ella fall in love with him? I get that he's hot... okkkaay... but he has NOTHING else.

Later on in the book Reed does some nice things. But my problem is that Ella was obsessed with him way before that. If her feelings had started to change after he started being nice, I might not be this frustrated. I still would have said she was a complete idiot but I would have been able to get over it. I just can not deal with this type of idiotic female. What Reed was doing was freaking abuse and what's worse is that he got his brothers in on it too. But Ella was like ohhh I don't care, my body gets hot whenever he is near. Stupid. Just freaking stupid.

And then there's the other brothers. What the fuck. They are TERRIBLE human beings. Obviously the story focuses on Ella and Reed so we don't get the whole story for the others. Maybe they have good reasons? I don't know. But right now, I hate them. There isn't a single person I like in this book. Except maybe Val and thats maybe because I have a feeling there is something weird going on with her too.

I just can't handle this book. The writing was really good but I can't get over Ella and Reed. I can't. I wanted to like it, but no. The book is about manipulation, cheating, greediness, playing mind games, rich snobs, belittling women, drinking, drugs, girls being petty, and so much more garbage. I guess I am just not into this soap opera drama thing. I want to compare it to the Bourbon Kings.. but that book was decent, not amazing, but decent. But the tone of it is kinda the same. I guess.. maybe I have no clue what I'm talking about.

I am mad that I paid 15 bucks for this book... well the shipping was messed up so they took money off.. I think I actually paid 9. But you get my point.

Review: Price of a Kiss

It was a cute book. There were a lot of childish situations. Or I guess really it was just the characters were extremely childish. It was a new adult romance but the characters acted as if they were in high school.. or god even younger. There was sex.. I mean Mason was a freaking gigolo but other than some sexual situations it was very, very YA. Honestly the only reason I finished the book was because it made me laugh and any book that can make me actually laugh out loud is a good one in my eyes.

Reese was so overly optimistic and just so overly child like in her enthusiasm about everything that it was funny. Mason was kind of a strange character. He had his moments of awesomeness. But like I've said, I went into this book expecting college kids and what I got was kids in college that act like they are 15. Especially since the male MC was a freaking prostitute and the female MC had an ex BF trying to murder her. I just wanted something different.

But it was a cute story. I was happy for both of them at the end. Will I read the next book? Probably.. eventually. Not any time soon though. But that's honestly just because my TBR list is insane. It is a good book to pick of if you need something light because the characters were funny and it didn't take me long to read at all.

Review: Casey's Warriors

So I have been trying out alien books because I freaking love the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon. I can not get enough of those big blue horned alien men. But so far I have not been able to find any that I enjoy.

If I am going to read an alien smut book then I need it to be funny. I can't seriously read an alien book, I just can't. This book was looking like it was going to be kinda funny. Lorn came to Earth and he didn't know Earth sayings, he claimed to be a model, living with a house full of male model (which were actually other aliens) and he was just adorkably awkward. I loved it. Then he took Casey to his ship and shit started to get real... I did not want to read a bazillion pages about what was wrong on his planet and why Lorn needed her to bond with him and a bunch of other males. I did not want to read about their alien politics. I also got super tired of them explaining the bond thing. I feel like it was explain waaaaay too much.

The point of that little rant is that this book did not do it for me. The smut wasn't even all that hot. Sometimes it was but for the most part ehhh... Mainly because you had to hear Casey reject her desire. Bitch you were turned on my multiple men. Own up to that shit. Just because thats not how Earth does it doesn't mean you can't be honest with yourself and enjoy some freaking alien bonding.
