Review: Rock Chick Redemption

Rock Chick Redemption Rock Chick Redemption by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE ROXIE. I need her in my life for real. I went into this book thinking I wouldn't like it because I really, really hated the last one.

Roxie is trying to get away from a crazy ex-boyfriend so she goes to Denver to see her Uncle Tex. Yes that Tex. The crazy guy that I just want to cuddle up with. Yeah so she goes to Fortnums and all the Rock Chicks are there and all the Guys... I hate the Hot Bunch nickname that they get. Anyways she walks in there and of course everyone makes a huge scene because Tex has family. But thats where she meets Hank aka Whiskey.

Roxie tries to stay away from Hank but he just doesn't listen to no. I know some people were annoyed by that but really thats what those Denver boys do. So it just didn't bother me. Hank and the gang help Roxie with her ex-boyfriend and the drug dealers that are after him. And the Rock Chicks take her in immediately. "I'm going to kill that motherfucker!" I'm pretty sure most of the gang, including her father, said this at one point about her ex. Why did I love this? I have no idea but I did. I love that everyone in these books bans together to help each other out.

It's really hard not to love Roxie.. I mean at least for me. I think a lot of it is her attitude toward life in general. She was kidnapped and beaten and tied to a freaking sink.. but she didn't break down.. at least not really, she was just determined. I like that she didn't go into hysterics. God knows I would have. I also like that she is a complete nut. She is a talker for sure. Sometimes it's hard to get her to shut up and its not like boring girl talk either. Its her funny ramblings. Its endearing and hilarious and Hank thinks it's cute. So yay him. I think if Roxie personality would have been different I would feel differently about this book. The Rock Chicks can bring on the funny but what made the book so amazing was that Roxie was kind of crazy.. but in a Tex kind of way. So it was a good crazy.

And then there is Roxie's parents. OMG they were absolutely hilarious. I can see how Roxie didn't think so but it's also obvious that being nutty just runs in the family. They came in and took over everything. I also think it was the time that I knew I was in love with Hank as well. Because he didn't mind her family! It amused him. Which I guess I should have known because of how he feels about Roxie and she is pretty much exactly her mother. So I guess it should have been obvious but whatever. Hank is a good guy and Roxie needed someone as domineering as him. It works because he is a good guy and wants to keep her safe.

This whole book was just funny. I laughed pretty much the whole time. I love the Rock Chick gang. I love the new additions. I love Roxie and Hank. I just LOVED this book.

Rock Chick Rescue by Kristen Ashley

I am not even going to pretend that I liked this one.. The only reason I finished it was because I want to move on with the series.  The only good thing about this book was the side characters.

I hated both of the main characters.  I thought I would love Eddie.. But he wasn't even a good "do everything I say" caveman.. He got shit done yeah but eh.  Nothing special like Lee.

And Jet... I hated her. She was a bitch.  Well let me clarify, she was a bitch ONLY to Eddie.  She was basically a perfect angel to everyone else.  No matter how nasty they were to her.  Like her father who took her money and brought bad men to her doorstep.  She didn't care.  But then when Eddie tried to help her she was such a bitch.  And the whole thing with thinking she was too boring for him.. That was just annoying.  I don't understand why that needed to be added in there at all.

I also do not understand why Eddie stuck around.  Jet was terrible to him.  She was NEVER nice to him.  The romance didn't make sense to me.  Whatever works for people I guess.

1.5 stars... Those stars are strictly for the original characters.  Not Jet and Not Eddie.  And defiantly not for this romance.

Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley

I liked this one.  Not as much as I liked the others but it was still pretty good. I can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it's because he has children with Maddie's twin. Maybe it's because I am putting myself in her shoes and I am a jealous little girl and I would have a very hard time knowing how much Apollo loved his wife.  And he was a jackwad to her at first.  He turned out to be a dreamy man thats for sure and the sex scenes were some of the best of the series but I am not sure I would have been able to get past some of the crap he put her through at first.

The thing I loved most about this book was that the four girls from the other world all got together and got to know each other.  I loved how they interacted and how they formed a bond that will last a life time because they know what they are going through.  I loved seeing the men together as well.  That really is what made the book great for me.  I wasn't a huge fan of Apollo and Maddie. I mean I think Maddie was amazing. It takes a freaking STRONG woman to go into a relationship knowing and seeing that a man loved as deeply as he did, so I guess it's not that I don't like them.  I just had a hard time putting myself in her shoes.  But the rest of the book I LOVED! because  I loved seeing the couples together!

Fantastical by Kristen Ashley

"Does this mean I'm a princess?" I asked       He started at me looking annoyed for a second then he say back and signed, "That's what usually happens when a woman marries a prince." ..... "Oh my God, I'm a Princess."
I just want to say why the hell can't I wake up and find out I am married to a prince. I would totally rock at being a princess. sigh.

Cora is one of my favorite heroines of all time.  She is brave, funny, lovably and is nice to everyone.  I loved how she would just go off on rants and Tor would just sit there. Adorable. She didn't just give up when everyone hated her. Yeah sure she cried for a little bit, had a little pity party but who the hell wouldn't.  Hello she woke up in a different world where everyone spat at her! But then she got over it and turned everything around and made the people love her just by being her.  And to me the character wasn't like overly fake.  You know how it is when they are so nice that its unbelievable.  Yeah well Cora wasn't.  Kristen Ashley did an amazing job at making an annoyingly nice person 100% lovable.

They spent time in our world!! this is what I have been waiting for! The whole thing with the bad Cora and the other Noc was pretty cool too.  I mean kinda sad for the other Noc but I loved that some of the story finally took place in our world.

Cant wait to read the next one!

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley

I have honestly been putting this book off because of the summary.. a girl who lets a man sneak into her house in the middle of the night to sleep with her for a year and a half and she doesn't even know his name?? Yeah not usually my kind of MC. But I am glad I finally pushed myself to read it because it was really good!

Gwen was funny! Yes she got very, very, verrrrrrrry annoying at times, but shit who doesn't. I sure as hell would never have let what happened to her, happen to me but it all worked out for her in the end and let me just say that Hawk is dreamy.  He is male perfection; all protective and bossy. Just like I like my male hero.

The only real issue I had was the length of the book.. it seemed to be really long. I found myself skimming parts and thats not good at all! I might have missed important things but honestly I felt like it was all being dragged out.  Gwen was in trouble because of her sister. She kept going back and forth between Tack and Hawk for protection but not really because Hawk just busted in and took her back. Let's get the show on the road all ready!

Overall though the book was worth it! I will defiantly be reading the next book in the Dream Man Series! and probably will try to read more from Kristen Ashley. She is a funny author.  Which is my favorite kind :)

Wildest Dreams Kristen Ashley

"Part of the beauty of a woman with child is her curves, wife, and you'll not deprive me of the ones I bestowed on you by 'keeping fit'."   Lets just take a minute and appreciate that line of literary awesomeness there. Ive never had a child but I sent that to my sister and she blew it up and she framed it on her wall so thank you Kristen Ashley for that one :)

I liked this book. There was a whole lot going on. I am SOOOO glad that he knows that she isn't the real princess.  I have read books where they try to hide that and I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack so I love that this book didn't do that and that Frey just found it amusing.  It is a long book but it is worth it. It made me happy
