Review: Hard as a Rock

Hard as a Rock Hard as a Rock by Christine Warren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So this one has been my favorite of the series so far. I love that Knox (the guardian) knew that Wynn was his mate right away. That he always felt the pull towards her and he didn't try to deny what he felt. If I remember correctly both the guardians in the first 2 books fought the mate bond thing until the very end. Knox and Wynn excepted it pretty early on. It actually took Wynn longer than Knox. The whole denial thing always bugs me. I feel like we get to know the couple so much better when they just accept that they are mates and then work together to fight the enemies instead of fighting each other.

So there was also a downside. While I loved the couple, I got a little bored with the story. BUT to be fair it could totally just be me. I haven't read a book in a couple weeks and I have a newborn who needs my full attention. So I had to put the book down about a million times. So it was just hard for me to get completely into the story when I had to start and stop so many time.

I am excited for the next book though! Christine Warren is one of my favorite authors and I know I'd read anything she writes.

Review: All Night with a Rogue

All Night with a Rogue All Night with a Rogue by Alexandra Hawkins
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

There will be spoilers and this willl be a rant.

I hated everything about this book. I am not even certain why I picked it up in the first place. The blurb straight up says that this guy is going to seduce an innocent for his sister. That is just not something I want to read about. I was pissed the whole freaking book. Sin was an asshole. There is a difference between a rake and whatever Sin was. Everything he did to Juliana was absolutely terrible. And what's worse is that Juliana let him do them!! Therefore I have a hard time feeling bad for her because she was a freaking moron. What women would hook up with a guy that she caught with 2 different women and who openly admits that he takes many married women to his bed. He freaking gives the women he sleeps with pearls that they proudly wear so everyone knows that they are sleeping with him. Sin made Juliana a whore and basically ruined her life.

I finished this book because by time he took her virginity and I mean TOOK because thats exactly what he did, I thought he would change his tune. Maybe come clean with why he sought her out in the first place. Idk maybe buy her a different offing gift than the pearls and I was already halfway into it soI figured I'd finish and hopefully he would change. BUT NO. He is a douche the whole book.

I will not be reading the next book in this series and I will probably never pick up a book by this author again.. That's how much it pissed me off.

Review: Viper's Run

Viper's Run Viper's Run by Jamie Begley
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

SPOILERS. B/c I'm pissed.

WHHYYYYYYYYYY do I read these kinds of books. I literally fume the whole dang time.

We have this straight lace school principle and we have the president of a biker club. Yeah.. that alone is just silly. But the book starts with Viper using Winter to get close to people who might have been involved in his brothers murder. He uses her for two years, TWO YEARS! He leads her on for two mother offing years. He knows she's in love with him. The only good thing I can say is that he never slept with her. So that's the only plus I guess... So she finds out that he is in fact Viper the leader of the motorcycle club and naturally she freaks out. She shuts him out and he lets her. Good for him because he's an asshole.

But then some shit happens and she's basically an invalid for awhile. And Viper decides that it's his right to take care of her... um what? She literally kicks him out of the hospital and Viper has her brought to his house... She isn't able to walk, or move basically in any way. So she is freaking stuck. She tries to get away a couple of times but Viper and his club stop her. She has ZERO control of any part of her life. I can't not explain how much this pissed me off. I also hated that she just kind of accepted this and eventually grew to love these people who basically put her in prison. I don't understand people.

I have read a lot of MC books. I understand that they involve a lot of club sex but I think that in this book it's worse than most.. ok well most of what I have personally read. The fact that the women in the club have to sleep with the originally members to become a member themselves just seems trashy. In this book the author is trying to make the sex seem like it's all very respectful but I just have a hard time seeing it that way. But to each their own.

There is about a million other things I hated about this book but I think I have ranted enough. So ill leave it at that. I also hate myself because I know I'll read the next book. I can't tell you why.. Because I was honestly pissed this entire book.

Review: To Catch a Flame

To Catch a Flame To Catch a Flame by Lily Freeman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I got this book from from the author.

If you haven't read the first two books then you really need to go read them before you pick this one up. There is a lot that happens in the first two that lead up to this one. Especially the chemistry build up of Mika, Elliot and Pj.

This books starts off right where the last one left off. Mika and Elliot are determined to help PJ get past what Luke did to her. They are in love with her but PJ still thinks that they are strictly gay. They keep that secret for a lot of the book and that honestly upset me. A lot of the problems they dealt with at the start of their relationship with PJ could have been avoided if they were just honest with her. PLUS they also hold another secret back from her even after they started dating her. It makes me sad.

The other thing I really didn't like was how Elliot handled some parts of the relationship. He acted like Luke a few times. I mean he never hurt her but he refused to hear her out and instead of explained his POV he just demanded that he was right. There was a lot of tension in the relationship that I feel could have been avoided.

Don't get me wrong. I still loved the book. It was heartwarming and sexy and just sweet as hell. I want a Mika and Elliot in my life. !

I love, LOVE Mika, Elliot and PJ. I am so sad that their story is over but I am glad that PJ finally got the men she deserved.

Review: Duke of Pleasure

Duke of Pleasure Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elizabeth Hoyt is the queen of Historical Romances.. at least to me she is. I loved this book! And I won't lie, I was a little bit worried about it because Alf was the female lead. But she was kind of amazing. She was a total badass but with a soft heart. Hugh was also pretty amazing. He is the Duke of Kyle, the bastard of the king, and a sweetie :) He made some poor choices, leaving his children alone so he is in the process of winning their love back. All while trying to take down the Lords of Chaos down. He hires Alf to help him with that and slowly realizes that Alf is a woman and a woman that he is insanely attracted to. I loved the chemistry between the two characters. They are complete opposites but they are also the same. She is a street urchin and he is a Duke. You would think that they would have nothing in common but they do. I loved seeing them work together and I loved seeing the passion between them.

Like with the other book from this series, this one was funny, witty and sweet. It wasn't cheesy like a lot of HR get. Honestly this series is beyond my favorite HR series. This book is no different. I loved it! I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

Review: The Unexpected Duchess

The Unexpected Duchess The Unexpected Duchess by Valerie Bowman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I kind of loved the first 75% of this book. I liked it up to the point where Lucy and Derek got together. Usually that's the part of the story that I love but the whole book these two characters are fighting and at each others throats and then they are all lovey dovey and goo goo eyes. Gag me.

Now Ill admit that Lucy was a total crazy loon. I understand wanting to help a friend out but if that friend can't even say what she wants then it's time to back off and let her fight some of her own battles.

But the book was still funny. Ill defiantly read the next one. I just hope that the ending isn't so cheesy.
