Review: One Second

One Second One Second by Dannika Dark
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh man.. I am about to say something that a lot of people are going to disagree with me about.. I do not like Lexi..in fact she is my least favorite female from the series. I have never liked her and when I heard that this story was going to be told in her and Austin's POV I was a little disappointed and that's why it took me so long to listen to it... but it wasn't so bad.

The story itself took away from her annoyingly insecure and dramatic personality. A lot of the book is them preparing for an attack by rouge shifters and then the attack itself.. and thats really about it. Well and Lexi bitching about being pregnant.. like a lot .

I honestly think the best part was Lakota being there and an awesome male. No I'm kidding the best part of the book is April. (view spoiler)

There is defiantly closure for all the characters so thats always good..

I do not like sappy. It's why I can't read a whole lot of contemporary romances because they usually end up being cheesy. This book was defiantly pretty sappy. Which I guess you would expect from a final book in a series but Lexi has always been super emotional.. its another reason why I don't really like her. I like the humor the rest of the characters bring. Honestly if it wasn't for the other characters I would have stopped listening.

Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy the book. I am 100% glad I finally got around to listening to it. I was just a tad disappointed by it I guess.

Wheeler and Naya will forever be my favorite. :)

Review: Blood Destiny

Blood Destiny Blood Destiny by Tessa Dawn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So one of my GR friends Jilly read this book and in her first sentence of her review she said something about murder, blood, torture, rape and explicit sex... so obviously I had to read it. But then I went and saw that it was $4.99.. meh not gonna happen but then the amazon/book gods sought fit to give me a $50 Amazon gift card so I went book buying crazy :)

This book did not disappoint. There was defiantly murder, defiantly blood and torture and there was the unfortunate rape. Those nasty Dark Ones. The book starts off with our heroine witnessing a baby being ripped from her chest (yes her chest, not belly), a "man" drinking blood, and then that same man killing one of the babies... SO I though well we are off to a good start. No I'm kidding I really thought "What the F#@* am I reading". HA. I was warned by several people that this book was intense in it's bloodiness but I just don't think I had the right picture in my mind and with that opening I got a little scared.

But then she meets Nathaniel and everything gets better.. I mean there is still the blood and gore but theres also the whole insta-love/soul mate thing going on. So it's a happier bloody story.

I will say that Jocelyn got on my nerves a lot. Im pretty sure I would have been a bawling mess if I was in her shoes but I don't want to read about that! I want a strong female lead and Jocelyn was not that. But that's okay. It happens.

I will be reading the next book.. but probably not for awhile.. just because of the price.

Review: Tool

Tool Tool by Sabrina Paige
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

DNF @ 30%

Okay so usually I read a lot farther than 30% before I give up on a book all together but I hated everything about this book. I LOVED the first book of this series "Prick" so I thought I would enjoy this one but I just didn't. I am not a huge fan of the whole stepbrother romance thing. If I find an author, like Sabrina Paige, that I like and she has them I will read them but I don't go seeking them out. The guy, Gaige, in this book was too much of an asshole. In the first book..I can't remember the guys name but he was a prick sure but he didn't take it too far. I feel like there is a line of how much of an asshole a guy can be before I hate him and Gaige crossed it from the very start.

This book has Gaige's POV, which I freaking love when books have both POVs, but in this case it made me think less of Gaige and not more. He was an asshat in Delaney POV so I was hoping to get idk a reason or maybe that he still felt things.. but no... he did it just to be an asshole. The only real thing I got from him was that he hated the "image" the world has for him, a tool: no woman can claim him, he can't drive fast enough, he can't drink enough.. and you know the typical playboy image. okay.. here is where my problem with him started. He says he hates it but it is exactly what he is. He talks about how he was missing the parties, the girls and the alcohol.(he's at home because of an accident) So he WAS the person. He says that if Delaney hadn't come in he would have had a threesome with the models he was with.. Again he IS the "image" that he bitches about hating. So I just don't like him.

Or maybe I just wasn't in the mood to read about an asshole? Who knows. Im not going to rate the book because obviously I didn't finish it and can't make a fair rating but it just didn't work for me. I may pick the book up like way later but right now I don't see that happening. I might just move on to the next book in the series and hope it isn't like this one.

Review: Heart of Atlantis

Heart of Atlantis Heart of Atlantis by Alyssa Day
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OH MAN. I was surprised by how much I loved this book. I hate Alaric... Or at least I have until this book. oh and I HATED Qhuinn. I didn't feel bad for them not being able to be together. Nope. Alaric was just always this incredibly asshole side character and Qhuinn was the bitch rebel leader. Thats just how I saw them in the past books. But this book changed my mind.

...Well kind of. I still think Qhuinn is a bitch and I still think Alaric is an asshole but they have good reasons... and not just the whole he can't have sex and well Qhuinn wasn't just a bitch lol. Alaric has basically decided that he is done with Poseidon. He wants to give up his job and be with Qhuinn. Aww... kind of. But right now Atlantis is in a crisis. Someone has claimed to be the true king of Atlantis and he happens to have the last gem they need. ohhhh and this big faker also happens to want to make babies with Qhuinn. Thats whats happening on earth.. and in Atlantis the Trident is going wonky and the dome is cracking. AH. So there's a lot happening in this book. The bitchy Qhuinn breaks down and cries and the steady Alaric goes bat shit crazy. It's all a good time!

It's always bittersweet when I read the last book in a series that I loved and I LOVED this series. It's the first series I've read by Alyssa Day and I am going to read more from her because her writing is intense and detailed without being obnoxious with the color of people tennis shoes. Anyways... I don't think I could have come up with a better ending. It was sappy (as all the books from this series have been sappy at the end) but it wrapped everything up nicely andddd there was a little bit of a hint for maybe another series? I honestly don't know. I haven't gone and stalked Alyssa to find out what series is next or if it's connected. But I'm going to!!! :)

Review: Flight

Flight Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I actually read this book a while ago.. Im not sure why it wasn't marked on here but there ya go.

For whatever reason I have a hard time keeping track of how Alyssa's books are suppose to be read. I read the first 2 books of the The Empire Chronicles first and then this series and then the first book from the Dire wolf series. So I have the stories and characters and just everything so freaking messed up. I decided that I am going to start at the beginning and go back through her books. They are usually on the shorter side and are pretty easy reading.

The Crescent Chronicles.. which is this series, I have on audio. I was able to listen to all three books today at work. I then realized that there's a book in Levi's POV which I would have loved to read but oh well. Since I went through all 3 books I honestly can't remember where the first book left off. So it's hard for me to write a review. This is just a generalization of the book.

Flight was an amazing start to the series. We learn about a new supernatural society, Allie goes through some soul searching, Jared is an ass but then he is a hero, Levi is an ass.. and well thats kind of what the books ends with. Allie ran away and everyone was upset with her because she didn't stick around to hear his reasons.. yeah well when you learn that you were tricked into an unbreakable bond you tend to be a tad upset. I couldn't get over the fact that Jared and the others were mad at her! pshh. I'm sorry but I totally agree with Allie's reaction to what he did. Except I would not have ran. I would have stayed and gotten violent. REAL violent. She was tricked! How as she suppose to know that people would want to kidnap her. All she did was sleep with her boyfriend...

Review: Lady Luck

Lady Luck Lady Luck by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

YOU GUYS!!! I DIDN'T HATE IT!! I mean I didn't love it but I didn't hate it!! WOOT!

It's not secret that I have absolutely hated the first 2 books.. So why did I even pick this one up?? My sister begged me to, said it was so much better. So being the loving sister that I am I listened to this book and I actually enjoyed it.

Lexie wasn't a complete dink. I can't explain to you guys how much I hated the last 2 heroines. Honestly some of the worst heroines I've ever read but Lexie I liked. She did ask a million questions. She didn't make Ty repeat everything he said. She didn't let him walk all over her. She didn't sigh his name instead of actually making her point. She was funny. She loved fast cars. She had a whole hell of a lot of sass. She was kind of a badass.

Ty was a total badass. He served time for a crime he didn't commit. He didn't like to talk. He basically grunted words at her but she still talked to him and eventually got him to open up. But what's freaking awesome about Ty was that he was the first hero in this series who didn't force her to do anything. He was an alpha caveman, absolutely, but he didn't overdo it. I actually liked him!

I think this book was entirely too long. The last 2 were long too but I just feel the need to point it out. I feel like there was a lot of repeating of things, saying the same things to different people, repeating what people said. That always drives me nuts. I just think the conclusion could have come a whole lot sooner and the book wouldn't be missing anything. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this series but at least this one was decent. After I was done I didn't want to rant and scream and throw things at walls.

I really, really hope the next one is the same... even though it's about Chase and I'm not sure I'm looking forward to that... we shall see!

Review: Sexiest Vampire Alive

Sexiest Vampire Alive Sexiest Vampire Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not a huge fan of this one. There honestly wasn't a whole lot going on.. It was just kinda meh, boring.

I never really liked Gregori. He had his funny moments but other than that he just didn't do anything for me. When I read the blurb and saw that he was going to be hooking up with the presidents daughter, I just wasn't excited about it. I think thats why it took me months to finally get to this one.

Abby was the presidents daughter and she was boring. And to be honest kind of a bitch. Well there was really just one time she was a bitch. She finds out that Gregori has healing blood and she gets super mad that he won't give it to her. Even though he was a totally legitimate excuse. It was the 2nd day they knew each other. Of course he didn't fully trust her!!! Especially she says that she will tell her father to cancel the alliance if he didn't give it to her.. Uhh... yeah I would never talk to her again after that. So bitchy.

The whole book is a basically about Abby wanting to save her mother. Totally understandable. But I really don't want to read about her trip to china to get plants.. Im not into science so I was bored. Even though that's where the only action in the whole book happens but I just wasn't feeling this one.

Review: The Bet

The Bet The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this book a couple years ago and I remember loving it and my library just got it in audio so I thought YAY. I still loved it.

I love how the book started with them being children and we got to hear Travis' thoughts about how he tortured her to be her hero. Obviously it's not the right mind set but for a child, I think it's adorable. That's what people say right? "He picks on you because he likes you." It's why women now deal with abusive boyfriends but thats getting off topic and totally doesn't apply here. I love Casey and Travis' relationship. I love that they still joked around and played. I love those kinds of relationships. I love that it wasn't overly serious and emotional. Was there emotions? DUH. And Travis did have his sentimental moments, like when he took her to her parents restaurant and how he kept the folder from her parents because he wanted to be the one to give it to her. But I like that Travis takes a bad situation (his brothers fake engagement to the girl he loves) and he turned it into a fun experience. He helps her out a lot in the short weekend and it just proves that he is 100% meant for her.

It was a cute book. Jake was an ass. I have no idea how Rachel plans on making him better in the next book. Once I make a decision about a character, it's usually pretty hard to sway me another way. That's why I never got around to reading The Wager but now that's it's in audio I plan on listening to it at work.

Review: Rise

Rise Rise by Jennifer Anne Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh Jennifer you brilliant writer, you! There hasn't been a book that you've written that I haven't loved and this one is defiantly no exception.

Kaia is a 16 year old who lives in poverty and filth but she has a loving father, so in her eyes it isn't all bad. Her father has raised her to fight and be strong and it's a good thing because she soon finds out why. She is the 12th Kriger.

She meets Anders and he saves her and helps her escape the capital. Anders is an assassin and he is quiet and at first he was a little mean. Kaia has a way about her though, Honestly she just never shuts up and eventually Anders thaws toward her and they start to become friends. He takes her to meet Vidar. Who is the head of the Order of the Krigers. Vidar was a little creepy at first. He was blunt and flirty but he grew on me. He was funny. Although I did not like how his and Kaia "relationship" played out. I absolutely hated the way he went about it. I don't think I'll ever get passed that.

Okay so the whole point of the 12 Krigers is to kill Morlet, the evil king. He has tortured and killed many in his quest to find freedom. This is where most will probably disagree with me. But I am totally on his side. He is an asshat but the Heks had complete control over him.... Although at the end she didn't.. so maybe he is just an asshat.. Dang it. Okay so maybe I like him a little less.

I still think I am team Morlet. I have read a few reviews saying that there's a love square. No there isn't. Vidar is clearly not in the running. They have zero romantic feelings for each other. She won't end up with him. I know that things with them are complicated right now but no. It won't happen. So there is just Anders and Morlet. Anders is the clear choice at the moment. He seems to have legitimate feelings for her and vise versa. I guess only time will tell with that.

I can't wait for the next book!! Now that all the Krigers are free, I need to know what happens!! It's going to be killer to wait. This book was a totally new adventure and I loved every second of it!

Review: Four to Score

Four to Score Four to Score by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I won't lie.. I can't write a review because I have listened to 3 Stephanie Plum books today at work and they are all mixed up in my head but I NEED to have this quote with Joe and Stephanie written somewhere.

"It hasn't got any bullets in it."

"Bullets are creepy"

"What good is a gun with out bullets?"

"It's good for scaring people or you can hit people with it or you can use it to break windows or crack walnuts."

I had to stop and listen to that like 10 times to make sure the wording was right but it was totally worth it. It's freaking hilarious. Bullets are creepy.. ahahaha. I laughed far to hard for far too long.

Review: First Fruits

First Fruits First Fruits by Amanda Carney
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well I did enjoy reading this book buuuuut I hated Parsley.

We start with a sadistic a-hole sire vamp named Patrick. Seriously this guy is nasty. He enjoys having sex with the male vampires he sires and he thinks of them as sons and they think of him as father. It's messed up. Oh and there was one time one of his "sons" Bane pissed him off so Patrick made him bite off his finger. It was graphic. Yuck. Anyways so this Patrick guy has one of his favorite sons Jesse go find this girl and that's where Parsley comes in.

She has been on the run basically her whole life. Which I will admit is sad. She hasn't really had friends and she has zero family, again sad. But does she really have to blush at everything? I think not. Blush a few times, okay. But I felt like I was seeing the world blush every other paragraph. It was getting redundant. Then the awkward, blushing girl straight out asks Jesse if he's asking her out. ... How does that happen? If she's this blushing little girl too shy to talk to anyone then how is she totally fine being upfront and forward with the guy thats making her blush?. It bothered me.

Okay so they "date" (he freaking takes her to her workplace) Jesse gets to know her and decides Hey I like this girl. Why does Patrick get to have her? Some other stuff happens but I hate spoilers.

Also CLIFFHANGER! I know it warns you about it in the blurb but heads up it's a pretty bad one. Over all though I did enjoy the book. It is on the darker side but still very entertaining. I will defiantly read the next book.

Review: Atlantis Betrayed

Atlantis Betrayed Atlantis Betrayed by Alyssa Day
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay so I am a little mad at myself for pushing this one off for so long. I have never been a fan of Christophe. I have pretty much hated him actually so I really had no desire to read his book BUT omg I love him now.

I was so freaking surprised by this book. I loved everything about it. Christophe was sweet, SWEET! Can you believe that? Psh. If I hadn't read it I wouldn't have either but he was. He was everything that is perfect about the Atlantis Warriors. Hell he was better. He may be my favorite.. I haven't decided about that yet but he may be. AND Fiona! I am girl crushing the hell out of her. SHES A FREAKING NINJA!!!! and she gives all her money to the needy. She's the perfect woman. No joke. She's awesome. I know for sure that she's my favorite female from the series so far.

Characters can make or break a book and even though I loved this story, if I didn't, I still would have loved it because the characters were perfect. Even the side characters were pretty dang awesome.

This book was funny, sexy, sweet, exciting and just freaking fantastic. By far my favorite book in the series so far!

Review: Of Witch's Blood

Of Witch's Blood Of Witch's Blood by Jennifer Snyder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I luckily got an early copy of this from the author.

I loved this book! I am always a little worried about reading a new series from an author that I love. I know that sounds crazy but with authors that I know I feel like my expectations are higher and there's more room to fall. But this book lived up to all my expectations.

The world that Of Witch's Blood is set in is so magical. I want to know everything about it. There are different types of witches, shifters, vampires(even unattractive ones:), and there's more but I don't want to give things away.

Piper is a cloaking witch. She's in high school and still has all the normal high school drama on top of working cloaks like making vampires more attractive and making fake IDs for her classmates. Piper was a fighter. She didn't let anyone walk on her at all. She did come off a little bitchy at times but she has a lot going on.. Im pretty sure I would be bitchy too

Then we have Tristan who we think is a normal human but later find out that he isn't at all. I won't say what he is because it's freaking awesome. I was a little nervous about him just because he was so secretive but he has good reasons and I ended up loving him at the end of the book. Honestly I think he puts up a lot with Piper. Like I said she was kind of mean to him when he was nothing but nice to her. BUT then again he was also hiding a lot. I go back and forth. By the end of the book though I loved them both and think that they make a good pair. They kind of balance each other.

I am extremely excited to see where this story will go. There is so much going on and it's all exciting and crazy. My kind of crazy. I can't wait for the next book!!

Review: Dirty

Dirty Dirty by Kylie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been putting this book off for about a week and now I have no idea why. It was so good! It was funny, witty, and sexy as hell.

I loved Kylie Scott's Stage Dive series. The last book of the series I didn't care for as much as the rest but overall I liked the series. This one has the same feel but then again it doesn't. There isn't the craziness that is dating a band member. Although Vaughan was/kind is in a and it was never as big as Stage Dive. Really all the drama comes with Lydia.

She was going to marry someone she hadn't known for that long. Turns out he is gay so she runs and hides into the nearest open window.. which just happens to be Vaughan's house. HA. He finds her in his bathtub while he was about to get in.. so he is completely naked and she is soaked and still in her wedding dress. Thats just funny. Then there is a bunch of drama and craziness when her ex fiancé and his parents seek her out, but I won't get into that.

After all that gets resolved the rest of the book is about Vaughan and Lydia getting to know each other and about what they are going to do next in their lives. What I love most about this book is the drama was actually over pretty early. I mean there is other drama but it is more based on side characters like Vaughan sister. I like that the main couple wasn't fighting the whole damn book. We actually got to see them develop their feelings. Even though each of them thought that their "relationship" was very short term and both thought they were going to be leaving town. So there just wasn't drama with them. It was refreshing.

Okay I lied. What I love most about this book is the humor. Lydia was freaking hilarious. Even her inner thoughts had me cracking up. I laughed so much while I was listening to this at work, I know my coworkers think I'm nuts. And Vaughan was also pretty funny in his own way. He didn't have all the one liners like Lydia did but he was funny in the way he handled Lydia's crazy.

I just really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

Review: Renegade Leo: A Scifi Alien Shifter Romance

Renegade Leo: A Scifi Alien Shifter Romance Renegade Leo: A Scifi Alien Shifter Romance by Delores Diamond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

AlrightI actually enjoyed this book. I was a little worried about it mainly because I seem to be reading a lot of alien books and most of them aren't that great, but this one I liked.

So we have Astrid, who is an engineer on her ship. She works for a terrible man who is demeaning and thinks he knows everything. Well they go to land on Kartak and the boss man won't listen to the warnings and the ship ends up crashing. That's where we meet Leo. He sees the ship falling from the stars and knows it is his destiny. So he goes searching for Astrid, finds her and takes her back to his cave.

They can't communicate and everyone knows how much I love that. They still get along but they get a translator pretty quickly. When they go to save Rhea there's enemies and then we meet Leo's brother. Lots and lots of action in this book. I won't tell you guys exactly because I hate spoilers but the book was never boring.

The only real thing that bothered me was Astrid was a tad bitchy. She was lying to Leo saying she was going to stay to get him to do things but in her mind she was trying to come up with a plan to leave. That reaction I guess seems natural. But Leo was just so freaking sweet that it made me hate her a little bit. The other thing that bothered me was that she was planning on leaving and then did a 180 and wanted to be queen.

But other than that I really enjoyed reading this book and I will defiantly be reading other books from this author!

Review: Born to Be Wild

Born to Be Wild Born to Be Wild by Christine Warren
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Sad face :(

This book didn't fit at all with the series. I was a bit confused as to why it was added on. It was extremely slow and the FMC was annoying. I hate women that can't let men help them out. She got so freaking mad when the MMC told her to run when there was danger. She was a human and if she was shot, she would die. If they shot him, he could change to his lion and heal. It's the logical thing to do. She would just have been a distraction for him. I absolutely can't stand when women are all "I'm a full grown woman. I can take care of myself" but while she's doing this she is screaming and running away... that's childish. Defiantly not something a full grown woman should do.

I am extremely sad that this is how the series ended. At least I think it's the last book? But I have liked this series a lot for the most part. The last couple books have been a little disappointing but other than that I think the series was fun.

Review: Of Another Dimension

Of Another Dimension Of Another Dimension by Jeanette Lynn

Okay.. so I loved this book. But why does the thought of red aliens with horns totally freak me out but I was totally cool with blue ones with horns? I'm so dang weird. When this book described the aliens as giant red aliens.. I was a little scared and then they added the horns and I was like oh hell no! But I got over it.. by skipping over any mention of red. HA.

So we have this Earth chick, Lilie, she gets sucked to another planet through her crazy neighbors portal. Yeah I didn't really get that but whatever. She realized that she isn't on Earth anymore and runs from the giant red alien dude. Obviously who wouldn't? She hides out in the forest for awhile and stumbles across another alien's camp. She steals food from him and when she doesn't come back for me he goes out looking for her. Sweet alien man. Anyways, they can't communicate but she ends up semi trusting him and he teaches her how to hunt for food and what plants she can and can't eat. They eventually have sex. Yay.

There is a whole lot more that happens but I'd hate to give anything away. There's a lot of love and a lot of laughing. I enjoyed everything about the book.

The only thing that bothered me was some of the way it was written. There was a lot of "..." That just seemed weird and it was a bit distracting. Oh and there was a lot of italics. That was also distracting. I kept trying to figure out why it was in italics. I think it was her inner thoughts... maybe Im still not sure. but even with that I still loved the book and I am defiantly going to look into more books by this author.

Review: Invision

Invision Invision by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So good!! It's been a while since I read the last book so I was worried I would forget things but this book did an awesome job at recapping what's going on with out actually saying what's going on.. if that makes sense.

I'm not going to write a full review right now because the book just came out today and I really don't want to give anything away. I will say that it kind of started out a little slowly. It picks up pretty fast and a lot of things happen that I totally did not see coming. I was constantly like "what the f*#&!" Oh and Jaden was in it!!! I have been obsessed with him for awhile now and I finally got to learn a lot about him! I can't even explain how excited I was by that. That made the whole freaking book for me.

And that ending!!! ahhh. Im talking like the last 5 sentences of the book. Blew my mind! I can't believe I have to wait for the next book! Well done Sherrilyn Kenyon!

Review: Atlantis Unmasked

Atlantis Unmasked Atlantis Unmasked by Alyssa Day
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love this series! This one wasn't as good as the others have been but it was still really good. My only real problem was Grace. I wasn't a huge fan of hers. I hate when characters live in denial. I also hated that she was so worried about being the one to take care and protecting the rebels.. She is a 25 year old human. I get that she was the commander of that particular rebel base but why the hell would you get upset about having some atlantis warrior help? I don't get it. She would get mad when Alexios tried to protect her too. That was freaking annoying. You can be a strong female while still accepting help. It doesn't make you weak. I mean she was getting way too mad about not being able to keep everyone safe by herself. It just annoyed me.

If it weren't for Grace I would have really loved this book. I loved Alexios and I loved all the side characters. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Review: Kissed by a Dark Prince

Kissed by a Dark Prince Kissed by a Dark Prince by Felicity Heaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Why have I put off this series for so long? Oh wait that's because none of the books are at my library and that annoys me. I hate buying a series when I haven't read anything by the author but then I also hate buying the first book and falling in love with it and then going and buying the box set. Wow my whole point of that little rant was that I am very glad I ended up buying the box set because I loved this book.

I love Loren. So so much. He was sweet, kind, loving, and a total badass. Olivia is one lucky bitch. She was pretty cool too I guess. I liked that Loren didn't fight the attraction for too long. That always annoys me when a mated pair try to fight it. If one of the people were horrible I would understand but they aren't in this book. Loren isn't an asshole and Olivia is a stupid twit. It took Olivia longer to agree to be his mate.

The book was fast paced and exciting. I enjoyed everything about it.

Review: The Grind

The Grind The Grind by Kristen Kehoe
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This was a fantastic story. It just wasn't for me. It was really emotional and it kinda brought me down.

Hunter is a professional skateboarder. He travels all over the place but his mother gets sick so he goes home to help take care of her. Okay, that part isn't too bad. But then you add in the fact that every single one of his friends and family had a shitty life and is currently undergoing something that is emotionally hard.

-- Here is what I'm talking about.--His sister is struggling with school and dealing with her mother. Mal is in love with Naya but he never tells her. Brooks' sister dies and he runs away. Jordan(who is dating Brooks) his heartbroken because he left and because she was good friends with his sister. Maya had a terrible thing happen to her when she was 15 and she hasn't gotten over it and she is in love with Mal but won't tell him again. Isa's sister is dating a guy who is a liar and never wants to see his kid. The kid, Teo, is wanting to see his dad but is disappointed every time he doesn't.

I am exhausted after reading this book. Usually there is some happiness mixed in with the sad but there really wasn't in this book. They were having sex, sure, but the love aspect didn't happen until the very end. Both characters struggled with being in a relationship the whole book. They never went on a date and they never had actual conversation, they just had sex and then fought at work. Honestly I just didn't get it.

AND that ending... REALLY? I do not get that at all. To go from running away from each other to that? No and also Isa asking? Totally lame.

I liked Isa for the most part. If it wasn't for her sassy comebacks and her crazy family, I would have hated the book completely. At least I did laugh a few times when they had a family get together.

Like I said, this book just wasn't my style. I was hoping for more. If you are good with the depressing emotional stuff then this is a good book for you. I just don't like to feel depressed after I read a book. I want to be happy or at least understanding and I didn't get that with this book. I am just depressed right now..
